About
For Ages 12-18
Learn the art of social dancing in a fun, supportive environment! In this 14-week semester course, students will build confidence on the dance floor while focusing on two dances per semester.

Fall Semester (Sept–Dec): Cha Cha & Waltz
Winter/Spring Semester (Jan–May): Foxtrot & Swing

The focus is not on memorizing routines, but on developing the skills to dance with anyone, to any music. Students will rotate partners throughout class (no need to sign up with a set partner, but you must register with a counterpart so we can keep numbers even). By the end of each semester, dancers will feel comfortable and confident with the dances they’ve learned.

SYDNIE POWELL

Sydnie discovered a passion for ballroom dance in 1998 while studying in college. What began as a recreational interest quickly evolved into a lifelong pursuit. After graduating, Sydnie earned a coveted internship at the prestigious Arthur Murray Dance Studios—an institution known for its rich history and excellence in dance education.
Over the next four years, Sydnie taught full-time at Arthur Murray, refining both technique and teaching methodology while working with students of all ages and skill levels. The experience laid a strong professional foundation and deepened their love for sharing dance with others.
After leaving Arthur Murray, Sydnie married a fellow dancer, Jeremy Powell, and together they’ve spent the past 15 years teaching ballroom dance classes on and off, bringing their combined experience and joy for dancing to every class. Whether leading group lessons or coaching private students, they are known for creating a fun, encouraging, and welcoming environment for dancers at all levels.
